I'm jealous. My state is so backed up with Concealed Permit apps that I'll be waiting til mid summer.

Congrats on your permit and I can't wait to join you.

Congrats, Rob! Hey, how did the rig feel? Was it as comfortable as they make is sound on the website? What kind of shirt did you use - T-shirt or button-down?

I've got a shoulder rig that needs to go under a jacket - not very practical in the Panhandle. So most of the time I've got to use an in the pants rig.

Another thing to look out for in hot, humid conditions are your grip screws, especially the side that gets pressed against your body. Clean and oil them more than usual, because the sweat will rust them out. Learned that one the hard way. :D

I wear button down Hawaiian shirts that are a size bigger with an undershirt so my pistol doesn't get sweaty. Its pretty comfortable but Ive got to get used to it because when I sit it gets a little snug. But no one can tell Im packing

Sort of a smart ass question, but here goes:
If you announce on the internet that you are now carrying, is the weapon in question still "concealed" ?

Cool. For a long time, my in-the-pants holster was one where the grip sticks out above the belt. I've got to wear shirts a size up, and I usually use dark colors to avoid shadowing the weapon. Then I wear a wifebeater underneath to keep the sweat off the gun. Not very comfortable 6 months out of the year.

I recently picked up one of these http://www.pagerpal.com/ at a gun show, and I like it a lot better. It's not as comfortable as I like, but I guess I'll get used to it. At least I can dress more comfortably now, but more importantly, nobody knows I have it. :D

Lets see here, Big Rob is a guy in Florida who wears Hawaiian shirts. That pretty much narrows his identity down to around 4-5 million possibles. Hey Big Rob, the jig is up, we've got you pegged (sorta).

Congrats Rob.

I'm a little north of ya and have been carrying since 71. It is tough in the summer heat as you know, or will know.

I still use a very compact leather belt holster (outside) for my compact .45 1911.

I wear those "hero Tee's" and a x-tra large Hawaiian shirt also. http://goldismoney.info/forums/image...es/biggrin.gif

So now there are two of us who look like "Parrot Heads" to look out for down here...

Milt Sparks Versa Max II. Just received one for my 92 a couple months ago. It's the most comfortable holster I have.

I'm still waiting to hear back from NH regarding a non-resident permit. It's only been about three weeks though.

Great

Good to see you found a holster system that can work for your 6month old also. Get the small for them.

Chest Sizes:
Single Gun: Double Guns:
Small 18 to 32 Small Dbl 30 to 36
Medium 26 to 40 Medium Dbl 36 to 42
Large 36 to 50 Large Dbl 42 to 48
X Lg 46 to 60 X Lg Dbl 48 to 54
XX Lg 56 to 70 XX Lg Dbl 54 to 60

Sorry I had to laugh when I saw the 18" chest size.

Look at MP-Pistol.com

they have a ton of answers there.

I have the full size M&P and conceal with a shouldr rig.

Best in the Winter, under a jacket or coat, it's gone.

Yes it is because nobody here knows me

Re: W00t!!! Im legal to carry!!!

I guess I'm somewhat conflicted on the whole thing. On the one hand I feel like it's ridiculous that we have to congratulate someone and be so excited because our masters in government have given one more person permission to exercise their 2nd amendment right. It shouldn't be something we're thrilled over and congratulatory for, because it should just be a given/granted fact, no big deal, etc. On the other hand at a certain point you have to be practical and decide how important protecting yourself is, and if you have to get a permit to "legally" carry a firearm, then that's what you do. Conflicting, though, and I wish it wasn't that way.

Meanwhile I still live in California and it remains utterly impossible to get a CCW permit in my area, so none of this really applies to me. I suppose I can can risk getting tossed in the slammer and losing access to firearms for 7 or 10 or however many years it is, and just carry anyway... :no_ma: I feel like protecting myself is about as important as things get, but at the same time I can't do much for family if I'm in prison, so I look to getting a permit, and it turns out that's not gonna happen, either. Guess I need to move, but of course then I'd be away from all my family. I figure the best solution is to just stay inside my house 24/7, where I can carry about proudly and with impunity.

Just kidding.

I have ever holster ever made I think. Front pocket carry of a snubbie smith is the best option for me.

Congrats Rob.

Same here. I thought we had people here who don't dial 911, whose house is protected by Smith & Wesson, and who give up their guns bullets first from their cold, dead hands... and these people are overjoyed because the government deigns to add them to a registry of individuals permitted to exercise their Constitutional rights?

I hear what you're saying. But,,, it beats getting caught and then getting charged with unlicensed concealed carry which is a 3rd degree felony.

Its not worth getting a felony conviction nor going to prison. I'm the wrong color to go to prison.

But I do hear what you're saying and I agree with it. Thank liberals for being afraid of us big bad gun owners.

Re: W00t!!! Im legal to carry!!!

That is realism, unfortunately. Not everyone has a 20mm Solothurn to shoot down the attacking BATF helicopter into the lake, even if their M60 malfunctions.

Congrats Rob.

I've never carried in a front pocket.

I have to say its probably the smartest place for me to carry. I've been reflexively reaching into my front pocket for 40 years and can easily find it in a pinch.

Serious thought.

Is it dumb for one not to get a carry license because you don't to end up on a list that could be used when guns are made illegal?
